Last words is a compilation of the last written words of the men who were excuted after the Rising Of Easter Week, 1916. It includes also statements and dispatches issued by the leaders during Easter Week and accounts of their last moments from relatives and friends who visited them or priests who attended them. The editor, the late Piaras F.Mac Lochlainn, died when the book was in proof. As editor and keeper of the museum for the kilmainham Goal restoration society and as organising secretary of the national commemoration in 1966 of the fiftieth anniversary of the rising, he was ideally equipped for the task of compiling last words. His Wide_ranging research in manuscripts and printed sources, personal interviews and extensive correspondence have produced a definitive work on the last week's of the sixteen executed Leaders.
